Buddhism and Animals

Buddhism has a long tradition of reflecting on the suffering of animals and trying to benefit them. The underlying message of Buddhism is to benefit others, beginning with a personal commitment not to harm. When we check to see what harm animals are experiencing, it is clear that humans play a very large role. In this section we look at ways to reduce harm, and Buddhist practices to benefit animals.
