This young magpie fell onto the road in front of our vehicle, flapping his wings madly but unable to move his head. In a moment we had wrapped him safely in a towel, moved him to the rescue carrier in the back and were ringing Southern Cross Wildlife Care’s Dr Howard Ralph for advice.
We’re not sure how the magpie, now called Kalden (‘fortunate one’ in Tibetan) came to be injured. He has steadily improved from presumably a car incident and after the all clear from Dr Ralph, is continuing to improve and hopefully can be released when he’s ready to go.
