The animals at Kopan need your help. You would have heard of the deteriorating COVID-19 situation in Nepal. You will also have heard about the number of cases at Kopan Monastery, which had been so fortunate for so long but now has had many cases.
A short walk from Kopan lies the Animal Liberation Sanctuary. COVID has had an impact here too. The long period of isolation from international visitors and restricted activity has affected the sanctuary. The small staff cohort has been repeatedly interrupted from their normal activities. There have been disruptions in the ordering and delivery of food supplies. Getting maintenance and repairs, a difficult task at the best of times, has been almost impossible. Our local veterinarian who attends regularly and for emergencies has also been severely disrupted. The project coordinators from Australia who help bring vital veterinary supplies, support and guidance have not been able to visit since December 2019. International and local visitors have been excluded from the area and this has drastically affected donations. COVID has also eliminated normal fundraising events elsewhere.
With rising costs and falling income, and the continual fear of COVID infection, morale and funds are low.
This Saka Dawa, Wednesday 26th May, please consider making a donation to the Animal Liberation Sanctuary.

To liberate large animals you need a safe environment for them to live out the rest of this life, and a place to give them Dharma. At the Animal Liberation Sanctuary animals liberated by Kyabje Thubten Zopa Rinpoche receive both. While we do not have space to accept animals liberated by the public, any contribution to the sanctuary is considered to be the equivalent of doing an animal liberation yourself.
As the late Khensur Rinpoche Lama Lhundrup explained, without shelter, food, medicine and proper care the animals would die.
