Helping at MAITRI, India

Tree of Compassion’s Phil Hunt is helping at MAITRI Charitable Trust in India at the moment. Not only is he helping with the many programs they have (leprosy, TB, mother & child clinics, a village school, mobile clinics and paramedical work in distant villages, the distribution of free blankets to identified needy people from far and wide, the campus hospital and, of course, the many rescued animals), and supervising an injured puppy at night, he was also helping put out a fire in one of the buildings that broke out on Wednesday!

“The place is so focussed on the needs of others that once the fire was out and an assessment of what needed to be done to restore power was taken, attention immediately went to the patients who had come in to give the TB sputum samples, and a newly identified leprosy case, and the morning dressing change of animals with wounds”, said Phil. “It barely skipped a beat”.
