Wildlife devastated by fire

We have been working with our partners, Southern Cross Wildlife Care, to help fire and drought affected wildlife. Under the guidance of Dr Howard Ralph, these animals are able to receive appropriate medical care including pain relief. Burns are very painful and complex injuries and affected animals need to see a veterinarian. The fires in Australia have been devastating and it will be sometime yet until the true damage is known. At the moment, wildlife rescuers are largely not allowed into the fire ground to rescue animals. We are getting in some patients at the SCWC clinic who have come from the firegrounds but also many fleeing the fires and drought who then run into trouble like being trapped on barbed wire fences or being hit on the road by a vehicle. it’s all very sad. Thank goodness SCWC is there to help! Tania holding poss
