Grey-Headed Flying Foxes, Tyalgum, NSW

Tree of Compassion members have been helping out at Tyalgum, NSW, where a grey-headed flying fox community has been struggling with the intense heat. Tracy Kane (TofC Treasurer) says that the local volunteer carers from the area have been doing an incredible job feeding weakened flying foxes and helping them survive the heat wave. Flying foxes have an incredibly important role in spreading seeds and pollinating rainforest and other plant species, and they are also very vulnerable to the extreme heat conditions we have been having.
